The proposed work Five Tattings ideally would be hung in Tunnel 1 as illustrated. The works could be suspended from the timber beam above, one per bay, to hang in a straight plane set out from the wall. This will allow for backlighting of the works. While I am very keen to install this work as shown, I understand the need to be flexible and if necessary could adapt the work to other locations. Five Tattings is one work from a series of works I am developing that directly reference the larger social and industrial history of and address global concerns of sustainability tha sit within the curatorial theme and as such, there are other iterations that can be developed that too would ensure a sensitive and relevant site-specific installation of work in other locations.
However, Tunnel 1 appears ideal because the works can be hung in one straight line and viewed individually as five ‘stanzas’ progressively and then as a whole. The movement through time and space speaks to the tunnel architecture and history.
