End of Empire is comprised of found teapots, gleaned from the shelves and recycling bins of Opportunity shops in the late 1990s and early 2000s. These teapots branded ‘Empire’ bear traces of their former purpose are assembled and banded together into a new zoomorphic form that ascends the gallery wall. During the time of collection, a certain number of repeated shapes must be chanced upon. Now harder to collect in quantity, End of Empire is both a statement on personal practice and larger questions of resource, sequence and place.
