Sydney Rising

Stephen Todd, design anthology, December 1, 2019

Mor than a handful of Sydney designers are now able to make a living from their work is a sure sign of changing times. But as Elizabeth sees it, there's room to grpw in a different direction too. 'I think we've got the potential to make a big impression in the art-meets-design sector,' she says. It's a good point, and clearly art consultant and gallery owner Sally Dan-Cuthbert senses a similar shift: she set up her Sydney gallery in 2019 to cater to the rising colectible design market.

With an increasingly solid commercial base and a growing interest in limited-edition and one-off furniture and objects, Sydney is now in a position to not just retain its creatices but allow them to thrive.
