Liz Nowell’s judges notes:

"Tarryn Gill's bather-pieced together in shimmering, Frankenstein-esque patchwork, is a quietly subversive sculpture that unsettles the tradition of cast-bronze monuments, usually reserved for white, male figures in colonial history.

Headless and slumped on the floor, this is a powerful and impressively scaled work, which exemplifies Gill’s practice and her interests in psychoanalytics, the feminine and soft sculptural form."

Each year, 15 artists are invited by Moreton Bay Regional Council to participate in the exhibition, with the winning artist awarded $20,000 and their work acquired into Council’s art collection. The exhibition aims to highlight recent works by Australian artists and present diverse voices and ideas.
