We are delighted to see a number of new CCB acquisitions on display in the recent refresh of Making Worlds on lower level 1 of the North Building.
As you enter the first room of the exhibition, you cannot miss Sally Smart’s P.A.R.A.D.E. (Modern drama and the artist’s ballet, and horsecraft – brown) 2019–23, the Art Gallery’s most recent CCB-supported acquisition. Comprising two textile works, P.A.R.A.D.E. pays homage to the historical avant-garde performances and designs of the Ballet Russes through direct allusion to the 1917 ballet Parade, and celebrates the contemporary women who rewrite these histories.
