Exhibition Dates 15 October 2022 -  8 Jan 2023

Join us for the exhibition launch on Saturday 15 October, 2 – 4pm.
This exhibition explores gold as a material, colour and a symbol.

Gold appears throughout global art histories and is often handled with great precision by the finest crafts people. This exhibition brings together a group of artists from across NSW, including from Green Valley to Tamworth, who have an enduring fascination with the artistic craft and conceptual potential of gold.

The unique qualities of gold including its colour, cultural connotations, weight, the ways it catches light and its physical malleability continue to provide challenges, opportunities and inspiration for artists.  This exhibition features new commissions and existing works by artists who demonstrates expert craft and process skills and work with the different aspects of gold in their practice.
LOOKING AT GOLD has been developed through a curatorial exchange between Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and Tamworth Regional Gallery. It features works from artists local to both organisations and includes artworks from both our collections. LOOKING AT GOLD will first run at Casula Powerhouse from October 15th 2022 to 8 January 2023 and then tour to Tamworth from 1 April to 28 May 2023.
