Donna Marcus’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, Pallet, presents a new sculpture series of repurposed aluminium once found in the kitchen. Traversing the wall and floor, Marcus’s simple geometric shapes and colour compositions create complex sculptural harmony - referencing minimalism, modernism and feminism through her unique visual language that links colour and material to memory.
Marcus is a significant Australian artist with a practice of more than 30 years. She has exhibited extensively both within Australia and internationally, appearing in major sculpture surveys and award exhibitions at institutions such as the Museum of Art and Design, New York, the National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. She has been the subject of two survey exhibitions documenting her career. Marcus’s work is held in public and private collections globally, and she has been the subject of several scholarly and journalistic publications.
Pallet coincides with Donna Marcus Radiate, a survey exhibition at Home of the Arts (HOTA), Queensland, 9 December 2023 - 28 April 2024 and a new hardback publication of the same title.
