Porcelain offers a material of breathtaking beauty. The fired material is soft, pure, luminous and translucent – almost like milky glass, and so evocative of the centuries-old ‘white gold' reputation. However, it is tricky, unpredictable, and almost devious in character at the making stages. Like a sentinel, the two forms stand together. The bowl – still – with a sense of quietness and deceptive simplicity. The tall form – highlighting the perimeter of the former and adding weight. Together they celebrate purity, hold space, absorb risk – a musical chord, a pause for breath.
