The sound of the surging Singer sewing machine folding pleats underfoot in a relentless march toward optimism and materiality sewed stories large and small. Venetian Blinds, spacecraft and aluminium homewares like the 21 icetrays that comprise Pleat all came to age in the 1960s, orbiting with the high cycle of minimalism in painting and textiles.
