Joseph Banks ceremoniously receives a magnificent piece of Tapa cloth (bark cloth). The tapa has been unwound from the body of the Chiefs daughter. Banks mistakenly thinks he is being offered the Chief’s daughter, not the textile.
Joseph Banks and Tupaia sit under a tree talking. A couple perform a spirited dance. Two midshipman practise the use of a sextant, recordin in a notebook and looking through the navigational device.
