Yaks grazing in a highland pasture of wildflowers was the visual inspiration for this suite of fancifully tactile occasional chairs which resonate with the notion that ‘home’ may be remote but not unreachable.
We’ve used Tibetan highland sheeps wool and silk to make hand-knotted bespoke rugs for nearly thirty years but were interested to go beyond our craft practise to explore the idea of using rugs to create functional, 3-dimensional forms. We took the most rudimentary, almost monastic, form of a chair and lined it in the most inviting texture we could imagine. Inviting speculation about what other ways woven textures could be transformed into unexpected forms and functions.
