Michael Gittings - Friday Fabulous Five

Belle, February 12, 2021

Imagining a dystopic world in which the dominance of machines over nature has been upended and decaying industrial structures are instead swallowed up by a supercharged ecosystem, artist Michael Gittings conceived ‘Future Ruins’ as a series of design objects in stainless steel and copper that writhe and contort in a thrilling, triffid-like fashion. Suggesting a triumph of the environment over human control, the exhibition is on view at Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert in Sydney until March 9 and the artist will be discussing his work this weekend.
