My obsession with the parabolic shape is the design foundation of my studio practice. Using the parabola as a visual tool, I explore the creative possibilities of this shape. In so doing, I uncover the complexity found in the simplicity of a parabola’s curve. In Blue Glitter Splice, three parabolas intersect each other to create this objects shape. The glow of the LED is reflected onto the glitter paint and washes the wall with colour. Blue Glitter Splice is part of an ongoing investigation into surface and luminous colour, form and light, as I explore what it means to paint with light. Using materials like glitter, perspex and LED as a drawing tool, I attempt to deliver colour and light in new ways. The essence of my practice delves into ones’ interaction with colour – how we perceive, interpret and experience colour and light, encapsulating ones’ joy of seeing.
